HOMEWALK — The United Way is sponsoring a 5k walk to raise public awareness and fund solutions to end homelessness in Los Angeles County. All money raised will be distributed back into the community to fund rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing solutions for homeless Angelenos. ROUNDTABLE — The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable will discuss the Three Strikes law and the case of community activist Najee Ali. Currently in a California medium-security prison, Ali was scheduled for release this month, but his release was rescinded by L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley under the Three Strikes law provision. Is this fair or unfair? PHYSICAL TO METAPHYSICAL — Purusha Hickson, founder and director of Stretch for Success Seminars, will lead an three-hour workshop on yoga practice, meditation, chanting and discussion of yoga postures from the physical to the metaphysical. INGLEWOOD OPEN STUDIOS — This third annual event will showcase the unique art community. The event will take place Nov. 14 to 15, noon to 5 p.m., with a closing reception Nov. 15, 5 to 7 p.m. This event begins with a trolley car tour through Inglewood to visit a variety of emerging and established fine artists in their studios. CAPOEIRA ANGOLA — The Ngolo Arts Preservation Society invites the community to an open Capoeira Angola roda honoring the lives and works of Rei Zumbi dos Palmares, guardian of the Quilombo Palmares, and Vicente Ferreira Pastinha, guardian of Capoeira de Angola. GLASS HOLIDAY DISPLAY — Beginning Nov. 27, the “Light and Hope” stained glass window display at the Forest LawnMuseum in Glendale will mark the start of the holiday season. The “Light and Hope” display will depict the seven most significant events in the birth and the early life of Jesus Christ, including the Betrothal of Mary and Joseph, the Visitation of Mary and Elizabeth, No Room at the InnMunich, Germany, and date back to 1913.
