FACT SHEET The L.A. Watts Times is the premiere African American publication in Los Angeles. From the turbulence of the Watts Rebellion, the Watts Times was established in 1965 as a source of news often overlooked by mainstream and even community-based media. In 1976, the name was changed to the L.A. Watts Times newspaper to include news for and about the entire African American community of Los Angeles County. The L.A. Watts Times is the most widely distributed African American newspaper in Los Angeles representing a $11.4 billion dollar market. In addition to hundreds of bulk drops, 45% of the distribution is delivered door-to-door in some of the most affluent communities in Los Angeles. No other African American newspaper in Los Angeles matches or surpasses the circulation or editorial integrity of the L.A. Watts Times newspaper. The L.A. Watts Times publishes information on education, business, health, legal, financial, entertainment, career and employment opportunities and many current and historical subjects that the community eagerly seeks on a weekly basis.
