It’s time to experience a new flavor in hip-hop: presenting Mor, a Black female rap artist. Mor has soundwaves that can knock down walls, while demolishing a heavily cemented feeling surrounding Black women in hip-hop; the feeling that they are second to the greats. Mor is more and she breaks it all down in an exclusive interview with L.A. Watts Times.
L.A. Watts Times: Where are you from originally and where do you live now?
MOR: I am from the Los Angeles area—grew up in East L.A.—but lived around the county throughout my childhood and currently live in L.A. now!
LAWT: How often do you perform; how do you prepare?
MOR: As often as I can! I always take an opportunity to perform, connect and engage with people. I would say recently average 1-2 times a week.
LAWT: What is your creative process, how do you produce your music?
MOR: My creative process is always changing; I like to live in the moment especially with creating and making music. Most times I write and record music—solo—in my home studio, so I can really get into it. And other times, it’s collaborative with multiple people in a studio, jamming out.
LAWT: What is your favorite song from your catalogue?
MOR: This is a hard question, but I have to say “ONG”, it’s just a bop through-and-through and I find people really love that song.
LAWT: How would you categorize your music?
MOR: New Age Hip Hop/West Coast Hip Hop.
LAWT: Who would you like to collaborate with?
MOR: Doechii, Lola Brooke, Kendrick, Lil Wayne, and Tyler the Creator.
LAWT: Who inspires you?
MOR: Life itself, my personal journey, family and friends. Artist wise: Lil Wayne, Tyler The Creator, Freddie Gibbs, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, MF Doom)
LAWT: Any new projects?
MOR: Yes! I’m releasing a project in May with a few singles coming out before, I just dropped my new single “rxflxtixn” Feb. 17 so definitely check that out on all platforms under Mistress of Rap.
