Bring in 2022 New Year as Barbara Morrison’s 6 Nights of New Year’s Eve presented by California Jazz & Blues Museum and Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center.  Beginning on Sunday, December 26 thru Tuesday, December 28, the first 3 nights will be held at The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center located at 4305 Degnan Blvd. #101, Los Angeles, CA 90008 @ 7:30 PM. Top Jazz and Blues artists taking the stage are Sonny Green, Bernie Pearl, Torre Reese and others.

Then the fun moves to the Manchester Banquet Hall, 1735 W. Manchester Ave, Los Angeles, 90047 on Wednesday, December 29th, Thursday, December 30th and New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31st  with performances by The Delfonics, Klymaxx, 5 time Grammy nominee Jazz and Blues singer Barbara Morrison, Blues great Sonny Green, Al Williams Jazz Society Sevilla, Elaine Gibbs "Tribute to Aretha Franklin" Cowboy Soul Band, Jazz Zone, Blues Legend Leroy Jones, Blues Legend Bernie Pearl, Soulful Singer Karen A. About Barbara Morrison, The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center & The California Jazz & Blues Museum

 

Barbara Morrison is a Jazz and Blues Legend.  As a Vocalist, she has been featured on two Grammy Award-nominated albums, and for a third Grammy Award-nominated album, Barbara Morrison’s Blue Lady Records served as Producer.  A multi-hyphenate, Barbara Morrison is also the Founder of The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center and Founder and President of the California Jazz & Blues Museum, both located in Leimert Park, CA.  The California Jazz & Blues Museum and Performing Arts Complex will house state-of-the-art recording studios, classrooms, a Green Room, an outside Jazz Alley, a 200-seat theatre and the Museum itself, which will become a repository of artifacts chronicling the history of legendary Jazz & Blues artists, and the contributions they have made to the music industry.

Morrison is proud to announce that The Harmony Project is housed in the museum.

Morrison also serves as an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies in the Global/Ethnomusicology Department at UCLA in Westwood, CA.  Morrison was born in Ypsilanti, MI and raised in Romulus, MI.  She recorded her first appearance on radio in Detroit, MI at the age of 10.

Over the course of her 60-year career, she has performed with a virtual “Who’s Who” of the Jazz and the Blues worlds.  That list includes Legends like:  Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, James Moody, Ron Carter, Etta James, Esther Phillips, David T. Walker, Jimmy Smith, Johnny Otis, Dr. John, Kenny Burrell, Terence Blanchard, Joe Sample, Cedar Walton, Nancy Wilson, Mel Tormé, Joe Williams, Tony Bennett and Keb’ Mo.  Additionally, Morrison has guest starred with the Count Basie Orchestra, The Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra, and Doc Severinsen’s Big Band.
