On October 20, at the seventh annual Taste of Soul Family Festival, the Los Angeles Sentinel and Bakewell Media will launch StarQuest, a new entertainment stage for its inaugural talent search/ singing competition.

Auditions held on October 11 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, will result in the selection of 12 semi-finalists who will perform on the StarQuest stage during the festival. From the pool of semi-finalists, two will be selected.  One will perform on The Wave (94.7 FM) stage, the other on the Radio Free KJLH (102.3 FM) stage in front of an expected crowd of 250,000 people.

The semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, who will score their performances. The judges include executive producer, Tony Cornelius, son of the legendary Don Cornelius creator of “Soul Train,” Yvette Bailey (former “Soul Train” producer), talent executive, Rayva Harrell (Nickelodeon’s “All That,” “The Steve Harvey Morning Show”).

Tony Cornelius said:  “It is an honor to be given the opportunity to work with the Los Angeles Sentinel, Bakewell Media and community legend, Danny J. Bakewell, Sr., creator of Taste of Soul and StarQuest in developing the Taste of Soul “StarQuest” Singing Competition, which will open another door for hundreds of talented individuals in our community who would otherwise be left out of today’s mainstream music variety formats.  Our team of industry professionals is committed to find the best of the best voice our community has to offer.  This show is a MUST SEE, I’ll guarantee it.”

The StarQuest Singing Competition will provide a monumental platform for Southern California’s rising stars.
