Los Angeles, CA — (Sept. 10, 2012) — The 6th Annual Champions of Education golf classic benefit tees off Friday, September 14 at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort on the BABE course, 1 Industry Hills Parkway, City of Industry, CA. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by mulligans at 12:15 and then a call to carts. Golfers can grab the complimentary lunch provided by Advance America along the way.
Upping the ante out on the course are a number of contests, including the closest-to-the-pin, the-hole-in-one, the longest drive and the guess-your-drive contests. One person from each foursome is eligible to win a Taylor Made Rocketballz’ Rescue Club, courtesy of AEG.
After a full day of play, evening festivities kick off with a 5:30 p.m. silent auction, reception and dinner. Then awards for the best teams and grand prize raffle drawings of everything from airline tickets, to luxury hotel stays, to big-screen TVs, and sports-related memorabilia will be announced.
Funds raised from this sold-out event will benefit the Brotherhood Crusade and the Zeta Rho Foundation—an L.A. chapter of the national Omega Psi Phi fraternity. The money goes towards Zeta Rho’s multi-city mentoring program, and the Brotherhood Crusade’s many academic, mentoring, sports and community programs, which serve 125,000 people in the South Los Angeles area.
“The Brotherhood Crusade is honored to be part of this,” said Charisse Bremond-Weaver, who is the president and CEO of Brotherhood Crusade. “Zeta Rho Foundation is the best partner; they love the community as much we do, and have the same commitment to our youth.”
The event tends to attract celebrities, such as Cedric the Entertainer, star of The Soul Man, who attended last year’s golf classic. “To be able to fund scholarships that help young folks get to school and do greater things is so important,” he noted. “It’s great to be out here enjoying the day, and knowing that you contributed.”
