Over 1,500 students in Compton came out Saturday to receive free backpacks and school supplies from rapper and native son Keenon "YG" Jackson's 4HundredWaze Foundation. Held in partnership with Compton Mayor Aja Brown and the City of Compton, students received backpacks filled with various school supplies and were treated to an impromptu concert with YG at the Compton airport.
“I especially want to thank YG, YG's mother Shonee Jackson, the 4Hundred Waze Foundation, MadMac Foundation, Tomorrow Aeronautical Museum and all of the sponsors that helped make this possible,” said Mayor Aja Brown. “As small as a backpack and school supplies may seem, they are the tools needed to help guarantee a brighter future tomorrow for students. Some students do not have access to the basic supplies needed to be successful and I am happy we are coming together as a community and family to assure our students are prepared and ready to learn!
