Planes, trains and automobiles, whatever your preferred mode of transportation is, this weekend they are all headed to the 8th Annual Taste of Soul Festival on Crenshaw Boulevard. People will be coming from east and west, north and south, from far and wide to enjoy the festivities at Taste of Soul. Metro, the transportation partner for Taste of Soul, is providing bus and train service to help people get to Taste of Soul.

 

Metro is participating in the 8th Annual Taste of Soul Festival this Saturday, October 19 from 10am to 7pm. Once again, Metro will have a booth at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Rodeo Road where they will provide information on the Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Line project and the upcoming Metro to Crenshaw /LAX Business Opportunities Summit.

 

Metro is encouraging everybody to take advantage of public transportation and enjoy a leisurely train or bus ride to Taste of Soul, one of Los Angeles largest and most enjoyable street festivals.

 

Wherever you're coming from, Metro can get you to Taste of Soul!

 

Train Service to Taste of Soul

 

The Metro Expo/Crenshaw light-rail station is on Crenshaw Boulevard within a block of Rodeo Road, where the Taste of Soul festival begins.

 

Metro can take you to the Crenshaw district from all over L.A. County.  From the San Fernando Valley take the Orange Line to the Red Line, to the Expo Line and exit on Crenshaw Boulevard.

 

From Long Beach travel to downtown Los Angeles on the Blue Line, which has connections to the Green Line at Willowbrook Station and to the Expo Line at Pico Station.

 

From Pasadena or East Los Angeles ride on the Gold Line to Union Station and transfer to Red/Purple Line to 7th St/Metro Center and then hop on the Expo Line to Crenshaw Blvd.  

 

Bus Service to Taste of Soul

 

Taking the Metro bus within the city of Los Angeles is also a convenient mode of transportation to the Taste of Soul.  Traveling South to the event from Olympic & Wilshire, take Bus 210 from Olympic, Bus 210 or Rapid 710 from Wilshire.

 

Traveling North to Taste of Soul from Manchester & Crenshaw, take Bus 210, which travels North/South on Crenshaw.  This line will detour around the event but detours will remain within walking distance.

 

Traveling West from Figueroa & Florence, take Bus 81 heading North and transfer to Metro Expo Line, or Bus 111/311 west on Florence and transfer to 210 or 710 at Florence/Crenshaw.

 

Traveling East from La Cienega & Wilshire, take Metro Rapid 720 east on Wilshire, transfer to Bus 210 or Rapid 710 at Crenshaw/Wilshire.

 

Visit Metro Booth at Crenshaw Boulevard & Rodeo Road

 

Metro Community Relations Rail Safety staff will be available to talk about the upcoming Crenshaw Light Rail Line project and how to be safe around trains and tracks.

 

Representatives of Metro's community partners, representatives of several labor unions and a pre-apprenticeship training program, will be available to provide information on how to enter the Trade Unions to work on Metro capital projects that soon will be under construction in the region. Information about careers at Metro from bus operators to executive officers will be available as well.

 

As part of the Metro team, the Metro Experience (mobile theatre) will be screening video presentations that reflect the Crenshaw District and Inglewood communities.

 

Metro Bus Service Detours

 

Metro Bus lines that will be detoured due to streets closing, include; 40, 102, 105, 210, 710 and 740. Signs in English/Spanish will be posted at bus stops regarding the temporary routes or check Metro's Service Advisories for the latest changes on detours.

 

Bike Parking

 

There is ample secure parking for bikes at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza located at the intersection of Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevards.
